Arborist consulting & reports: common questions
- When do I need an arborist report?
- Most often when a city's tree permit or a planning approval asks for one, when a tree sits inside a construction footprint, or when there is a dispute about a tree's condition or about damage done to it. If you are unsure, the requirement usually comes from whoever is asking for the document.
- Will the report say what I want it to say?
- It will say what was found. A report that reaches a predetermined conclusion is worth nothing to the body reading it, and it is not what we produce. If the finding does not support what you were hoping to do, you will be told that directly.
- Do you inspect trees on a site you are not working on?
- Yes. Consulting is a standalone service and does not depend on us doing the work afterwards. Plenty of reports conclude that no work is required.
